Joanna Mertz has been in education since 2011 and in New London since 2016.  She holds certifications in Bilingual-Bicultural Education and English as a Second Language from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh, as well as Regular Education (grades 1–8). She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Spanish and a Master’s Degree in Applied Leadership for Teaching and Learning from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. In addition, she has been a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of English as a New Language since 2022.
