CLASSROOM DIFFERENTIATION STRATEGIES

Differentiation of instruction is a teacher's response to a learner's needs guided by general principles of differentiation, such as flexible grouping, ongoing assessment and adjustment.
 
Teachers can differentiate the content, process and/or product of the curriculum according to a student's readiness, interests and learning profile.
 
Differentiation can be achieved through strategies such as:
  • Ability/Cluster Grouping
  • Higher Level Thinking/Questioning
  • Pre-Assessment
  • Curriculum Compacting
  • Curriculum Extension Choices 
  • Tiered Assignments
  • Student-Choice/Direction

ENRICHMENT SERVICES

Beside clubs and extracurricular activities, enrichment activities are designed to expose students to a wide variety of disciplines, topics, occupation, hobbies, places, and events that would not be otherwise be covered in a regular classroom setting.  The following provide a sample of enrichment activities offered:

CURRICULUM ACCELERATION

Curriculum acceleration is grade level or subject level advancement to meet the learner’s needs. Advancement is determined on an individual basis guided by the School District of New London Curriculum Acceleration Policy.
